About Us
Beth Tikvah is a vibrant, growing congregation in Richmond, the second largest area of Jewish population in BC, just south of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The City of Richmond was an official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Richmond was home to the long track speed skating competition during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The City of Richmond has a kosher bakery and a Jewish day school (Richmond Jewish Day School, grades K – 7). Many Richmond residents are involved with the Greater Vancouver Jewish establishments, both as professionals and volunteers.
The Richmond Jewish Community is a tight, supportive, family-oriented community. Most members have come to Richmond from other Canadian communities, as well as from other parts of the world.
Another aspect of community life is the role played by young adults who have come through the Beth Tikvah Hebrew School program and are now leaders in the community. They are teachers, Torah Readers, youth advisors, leaders on USY Pilgrimage programs, and active in all aspects of synagogue and community activities.
Richmond has two other synagogues: Chabad Richmond and The Bayit. Richmond’s three synagogues, along with the Richmond Jewish Day School, participate together in the Kehila Society of Richmond. The Kehila Society of Richmond focuses on strategic planning with partner and constituent agencies to foster and create satellite and outreach programs
and services within the Richmond Jewish community.
